That reminds me of a debate I once heard between a religion advocate and a religion skeptic. After the advocate listed all the beneficial functions of religion in society, he continued:

Advocate: &quot;Why religion does so much good, if God didn&#039;t exist you&#039;d have to invent him!&quot;

Skeptic: &quot;They did.&quot;

Advocate: &quot;  ....&quot;</description>
