  • A Nobel Peace Prize Also Ran

Hattip to Harry’s Place, where the title; “The prize doesn’t always go to the most deserving,” says it all. The “also ran” referred to is Irene Sendler, who volunteered for a job in the Warsaw Ghetto and, according to Harry, “…managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi’s broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.” I suspect she was able to sleep at night better than the five Norwegian judges who gave the nod to Al Gore. The gratitude of those she saved is surely a greater honor than their tarnished prize.
